Swiss Business Register UID Lookup for Chrome

A free Chrome extension that looks up Swiss companies in the commercial register by UID or by name, on any web page.

Hover a UID, see the company

Every Swiss UID on a web page (CHE-123.456.789) gets a dotted underline once its check digit is verified. Hover it and a card opens with:

  • the company name and UID
  • its status: active, in liquidation or deleted
  • legal form, registered office and canton
  • the latest SHAB publication, such as a new registration, a change of officers or a capital change

Pages that load their content later are covered too. A switch in the toolbar popup turns the underlining off.

Right-click a company name

Select a company name or a UID anywhere, right-click and choose "Look up in the Swiss commercial register". The matching companies appear in a card beside the selection.

Search from the toolbar

Click the extension icon, or press Alt+Shift+U, then type a company name or paste a UID.

What people use it for

Checking the UID on an invoice before paying it, the imprint of a new supplier, a tender document or a VAT number (CHE-… MWST, TVA, IVA). Each card links to the company's full profile on Prospex and to the excerpt from the cantonal register.

Data and privacy

Register data comes from Zefix, the public commercial register of the Federal Office of Justice, and from the SHAB publications it carries. The card is not an official register excerpt.

The extension scans page text for UIDs inside your browser, and page content is never sent anywhere. A lookup sends only the UID or the text you selected or typed to Zefix. Results are cached in the browser for one hour.
